Adanta, under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science, played a pivotal role in the meticulous removal of a 5,200-gallon ConVault brand aboveground fuel storage tank (AGFST), two gas pumps, a “Gas Boy” card reader system, and all associated fuel piping, wiring, and infrastructure situated at the DOE Integrated Support Center-Oak Ridge Fueling Station within the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
This comprehensive undertaking involved the preparation of intricate site planning documents, demonstrating Adanta’s commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and compliance. The suite of documents included the Worker Safety and Health Program, Site Access Documentation, Accident Prevention Plan, Request for Landfill Disposal (UCN-2 1941), and the Tank and Piping Removal and Disposal Plan. Adanta orchestrated the systematic evacuation of petroleum and wash water from the aboveground piping and AGFST, ensuring proper disposal at the Generator Services 90-Day Satellite Accumulation Area.
Adanta supervised the removal process, diligently overseeing the extraction of the AGFST and all associated infrastructure. The evacuated materials were then transported in accordance with regulatory requirements to the Y-12 Industrial Landfill V, facilitated by a mandated special waste permit. The project’s success was attributed to Adanta’s adherence to the established schedule and budget, underscoring their efficiency and project management prowess.
Upon completion, Adanta delivered a thorough Site Closure Report, accompanied by comprehensive photo-documentation capturing pre-work conditions, progress throughout the project, and the site’s restored state. This endeavor exemplifies Adanta’s proficiency in executing complex environmental projects with precision, environmental consciousness, and unwavering adherence to regulatory standards.
