Adanta was contracted to manage and implement advanced remediation technologies, specifically steam injection and In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO), at the California Army National Guard site. The targeted areas were associated with the historical presence of two underground storage tanks—a 10,000-gallon gasoline tank and a 5,000-gallon diesel tank—that had been successfully removed in April 1996. The utilization of vapor energy generators addressed contaminants in the vadose zone, while ISCO specifically targeted pollutants within the groundwater.
To ensure the effectiveness of the remediation efforts, Adanta conducted a comprehensive soil sampling process at four locations within the treatment zone, examining vertical profiles. This approach aimed to verify that soil remediation objectives were met, aligning with environmental standards. Additionally, the groundwater within the ISCO treatment area underwent systematic sampling and monitoring at intervals of 30, 90, and 180 days post-treatment.
The analysis of groundwater samples indicated that the Waste Discharge Requirements exclusion rule thresholds were not surpassed. This finding not only confirmed the success of the remediation efforts but also resulted in the determination that additional groundwater monitoring was unnecessary. This conclusion translated to significant cost savings, reflecting Adanta’s commitment to efficient and cost-effective environmental solutions.
