Adanta is completing an Environmental Assessment for BLM – Arizona Strip District Office (ASDO) for the District’s Fire Management Plan, which guides management of wildland and prescribed fires as a natural process. The EA evaluates potential impacts from prescribed fire projects to reduce hazardous fuels and restore ecosystem function and health, fuels treatments to lower the intensity and severity of wildfires, and post-wildfire restoration. Through the EA, the Fire Management Plan will be revised. ASDO encompasses 2.8 million acres and includes privately owned land and land administered by BLM, Forest Service, National Park Service, and Arizona State Trust. There are also river segments suitable for Wild & Scenic River designation, historic/scenic trails, National monuments, areas of critical environmental concern, and wilderness areas afforded protection under the National Wilderness Preservation System Act. As a result, there are several stakeholders and agencies involved in the project, whose concerns need to be considered and addressed.
